Uber opens its database to improve traffic



It is free and aims to improve transport infrastructure in large cities


  Uber has new purposes for 2017: improve traffic circulation in large cities or improve its relationship with public administrations after a turbulent 2016 .

This week has presented Uber Movement , a web tool in which the public, especially public administrations, can access all the data that the startup has been collecting thanks to its service.

Its sole objective is the improvement of the infrastructures of the cities, so they present it on this web page. For this, it offers its anonymous data so that they know in which areas the service is most used and, therefore, in which areas factors such as public transport should be improved.

  This Uber tool allows you to discover patterns and analyze the impact of peak hours on the streets, specific events, etc. In addition, according to its website, all data are under Creative Commons license.

The project is already under way in three large cities with important traffic problems: Manila, Sydney and Washington. However, Uber expects to deploy Movement for dozens of the world's major capitals in mid-February.
