Technology boosted employment generation in 2016



The technology sector is the one that has evolved the most in Spain in the last twelve months


  Technology is becoming more and more common everyday and in companies. Therefore, it is increasingly considered as the basis of any corporate, vertical or business unit, with the technological sector in Spain being one of the ones that is evolving the most and offering more novelties in the generation of new professions to respond to needs of companies.

There is a significant change in the way companies and departments are organized, transforming IT departments into an operational and proactive center instead of a cost center, as the PageGroup consultancy has announced.

  Currently, in all large companies and in a very important percentage of SME companies, their CIO belongs to the Management Committee.

In terms of senior management profiles, the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) stand out as the most demanded.

About the latter, whose main functions include designing and directing the company's digitalization strategy, developing and managing the portfolio of digital projects, measuring efficiency and cost savings and developing ways to attract and retain talent.

The remuneration of this position, which is a key and strategic figure in companies, moves around 100,000 euros of fixed salary.

There is also an increase in companies specialized in offering the outsourced service of digital transformation in the long term with a Project Manager who joins the client's facilities.

Among the positions that have registered the greatest demand in this group, those related to Business Intelligence / Big Data stand out, given the need for companies to structure and exploit their data, not only internally based on ratios and their own KPIs, but also the externally of RRSS and information related to consumer experiences, to increase their profitability and open new opportunities and new markets.
