Twitter wants to be a video platform

It intends to broadcast videos in streaming 24 hours a day

Twitter continues with its renewal process and looking for its identity so as not to stagnate in the growth of users. The latest news from the microblogging network is the broadcast of live videos 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

"The objective of this new modality will be to turn Twitter into a reliable site to go to first to see what is happening," says the director of operations of the social network, Anthony Noto.

This new service will be focused on live news, sports and entertainment videos, which will be broadcast uninterrupted. These contents would be available both in the Twitter application and in the desktop version.

In any case, the broadcast of live videos is not new for the platform. Since December of last year it is now possible to retransmit live directly from the application and without the need to use Periscope.

The live broadcast has been used in large events such as the events before and after the last gala of the Oscars, in which an audience of 6.4 million users was obtained, according to data from the social network.

Anyway, it remains to be seen if the uninterrupted live content will have the same success on Twitter.
