BlaBlaCar opens a service for short trips

The BlaBlaLines initiative is being tested in the south of France and they hope to deploy it soon in the rest of the countries

First it was Uber, then Cabify. The technology companies face the taxi sector and the last one has been the French company BlaBlaCar, which wants to enter the cities for short journeys and avoid major journeys.

The digital platform of shared transport has launched today in France a new service, BlaBlaLines, focused on short-haul trips, from home to work, and with predefined meeting points.

The platform has specified today that, in the open "lines", passengers can find drivers "at all times, in both directions", and pay for the kilometers traveled, "no more, no less".

His initiative is initially available between the cities of Reims and Châlons-en-Champagne and Toulouse and Montauban, in the northeast and the south of the country, respectively, and is expected to expand later in the rest of France.

The company adds the services of its competitors Uber and Cabify and advances that will provide passengers with meeting points and arrival times, ask potential drivers for their usual route.

The company already has more than 40 million users in 22 countries, of which 3.5 million have been registered in Spain.
