The sales of the main brands fall again for the tenth consecutive period
Worldwide tablet sales were down 8.5% in the first quarter of 2017 as there is a slow transition from traditional tablets to 2-in-1 tablets, IDC reports.
The global tablet market contracted again in the first quarter of 2017, in which tablet sales accounted for a total value of 36.2 million units, with a year-on-year decline of 8.5%, according to preliminary data from IDC.
"In Spain the decline is lower, around 3.8%, with the drop in the sale of traditional tablets the main responsible for this decrease, since, however, the sale of 2-in-1 devices has increased," has assured Laura Castillo, analyst of IDC Spain.
The decline of the first quarter worldwide marks the tenth consecutive quarter in which tablet sales fall. Likewise, double-digit falls have been recorded in the last five quarters.
In second place was Samsung, whose market share rose from 15.2% to 16.5%, despite selling 1.1% less units (six million).
Next, Huawei, with 2.7% of units and a market share of 7.4%, snatched the third place to Amazon.com, despite increasing its share to 6% with 2.2 million devices.
