Facebook will hire 3,000 people to filter violent images

Mark Zuckerberg explains that the latest murders and suicides broadcast live on their social network have led them to take measures

After retransmissions of murders and suicides live, Facebook has decided to hire 3,000 more people to be able to filter the violent content that is published on the social network. The announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the social network, in his profile.

"To build a safe community we have to react quickly (...), respond quickly to someone who needs help or eliminate a publication," Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page.

Zuckerberg has pointed out that these 3,000 workers join the 4,500 people who are already working in the company reviewing post that may violate the terms of service.

In addition to investing in more personnel, the founder explained that they are also building "better tools to keep our community safe". Thus, the company will try to make it "easier for the user to report problems" and the reviewers to be "faster" to determine "which post may violate the standards" of the company. It will also be "easier for them to contact the police if someone needs help," said Zuckerberg.
