Microsoft creates a case with a new screen

Use electronic ink imitating the famous electronic books

While the market, it seems that yes, is preparing for the arrival of flexible screens, the research departments of the major technology brands are directing their efforts to other issues.

This is the case of Microsoft Research, which is developing a case that includes a secondary screen prepared for new tasks and thus increase productivity.

"A screen cover concept for smartphones, a secondary screen designed to improve productivity and comfort," Microsoft defines.

Researchers of the operating systems giant is developing a book-type case that makes secondary screen work with electronic ink, its design and appearance reminiscent of famous e-books.

One of the characteristics of this new screen is the absence of the tactile mode so recurrent in these times, a deficiency replaced by five small buttons. The connection between both would be through flat cables that pass through the hinge of the cover.

"The objective of this concept was to explore a practical solution that allows users to be more productive," explains Microsoft. The company has already made the first tests and for this it has used a Lumia 640, although it is expected that this novelty is available, at least, for all Android phones.
